Mouth check
My girl hasn't shown any true signs of distress, but I like to check on my animals to see any early warning signs. When I checked her mouth I saw some red that appeared to be a vein. I'm not sure if that's all it was or if that's an early R.I. or mouth rot indicator.
Behavior wise she seems normal; can get pretty active, but she's just under one year. No star gazing, wheezing, or bubbling. However, she will occasionally breathe heavily, though it seems to line up if she gets spooked or is really checking something out.
Opinions are great, as I am pretty new to snakes. If worst case scenario, I have a good herp vet.
Here is her mouth

Re: Mouth check
Oh. And her humidity and temps are good. 92-84 degree range, two hides, fresh water, and all that jazz.

And her feeding response is super great without being nippy

My opinion is as follows - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Why would you want to put stress on your snake by prying open its mouth when there isn't a good reason to do so?

There is NO reason to be forcing her mouth open to satisfy your curiosity.

Re: Mouth check
If you feel the need to check in her mouth, a good chance to look is after she eats when she "yawns" to readjust her jaw. You can usually get a quick look without having to stress her. Looks like a vein to me. I know as a new snake mom I was paranoid about my babies so I understand wanting to keep her healthy, just remember things like this are stressful for her.

Re: Mouth check
I was mildly concerned, as she is new. She was underfed and not really treated the best. Due to that and a new move, I wanted to make sure she didn't have mouth rot or something caused by improper husbandry and/or stress. I don't routinely open mouths . I had been listening to her beforehand. No real symptoms, but as a new owner I suppose horror stories of RIs and mouth rot and how one NEEDS to catch it early or it's a very stressful PITA for you and your snake. I have only previously to her owned a baby corn. He was taken care of very well and adjusted fine, so no previous experience getting a snake who's a bit underweight/stressed.
My intentions are nothing but the best. I just wanted feedback if:
1) Anything looked abnormal/any urgency to see the vet
2) If I am, in fact, being paranoid and should take those "horror stories" with a grain of salt.
I really love this little babe and want to keep her super healthy/snake "happy".

I mean by health check by just basic observation. Trust me, I don't intend on going into serpentine dentistry any time soon.
In short I had only done this today.

Re: Mouth check
It's not that you're paranoid, I just meant that I understand worrying about your animals and wanting to make sure they are healthy and happy. Just keep her in quarantine and observe her and let her settle in since she is new.

Thanks! She's been really cruising around and smelling everything so I suppose her liveliness is a good sign!
I'm also pretty new to herps and am more familiar of the early signs of illness with arachnids.
And I already put her in a mini sick area. She has went to the bathroom once with me, and it seemed like a normal snake poo.
I just have a super soft spot for her. The former store keeper was phobic of snakes, feeding her fuzzies, and stressing her out to the point of her striking a lot. He made me get her out...>.> That being said, I've had her for two weeks and never even was close to being struck.
