    What color is this?

This is RoseMary, I rescued her today from a feeder bin at my local reptile store. I love her color but can't figure out what it is called. Perhaps silver? Or a very pale blue? Her eyes are a very light red - not pink, but lighter than a typical albino. I'm excited to work with this color.

Blues have dark eyes, so it isn't blue. At least not without some other gene influencing it, which could also make it light colored like that. I know there is a color called dove, but I can't recall what eye color it has.

She seems a little too light to be dove. I want to say powder blue but she's even lighter than that.
    Here's another shot.

All of the powders, blue, lilac, etc. are black eyed. The fact that it has red eyes means it's one of the albino colors. It could be beige, champagne, or even a siamese (they don't get 'points' for a few months)

Is it really a rescue to purchase an animal from a pet store? They're just going to get another rat to put in its place.

    My guess is platinum.

She can't be dove, because they have black eyes.

    Re: What color is this?

Blue with the pink eye dilute gene, depending on who you ask, that's often called Platinum.
Albino eyes are called "pink", so if her eyes are as light or lighter than albino, then she has pink eyes. I know they aren't literally pink, but that's what they are called. Albino, Himalayan/siamese, and the pink eye dilute all give pink eyes, but are different genes. Albino and the himi/siamese genes are on the same locus, but pink eye dilute is on a different locus.
Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

    Re: What color is this?

Platinum can either be Mink + American Blue or American Blue + RED. PED isn't common in the states anymore. Imo, this looks either Buff (Mink + RED) or RED based Platinum.
