    Baby snappers

Hey guys i want to start obtaining and breeding albino snappers in the next few years... do you think a 200 gallon preformed garden pond would be a good start for two or three breeders? Also should i start off with buying a couple of possible het albinos or just buy an albino right off the back. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if we have any/many snapper breeders on here. You may want to check with a turtle forum.

200 gallons seems small to me for turtles which get bigger than the size of a large trash can lid. My guess is you'd probably want to be in the 300-500 range for 3. Possibly "crunch" 2 into a 250gallon pond but don't quote me on that.

I breed albino snappers....200 gallon will not be big enough for very long. I keep a single breeding sized snapper in a 350 gallon stock tank.

As far as whether to buy hets or albinos.....how much money do you have? Albino hatchlings retail for anywhere from $4,000-$5,000 each. Hets and possible hets obviously go for much cheaper. Check out my website in my signature...I currently have about 200 eggs in my incubator.
