Cloudy Eyes... on feeding day.

It's been a while since I decided to let little Abdul be. I saw him for the first time yesterday since Saturday and he was moving quick from his cool hide to the warm hide and he wasted no time getting there. Since then, he's been relaxing all day. So today I decided to pick him up and handle him a bit, but I noticed *dun dun dun* cloudy eyes, pinkish belly and faded looking scales. Someone's ready to shed!

But today also happens to be Wednesdays, Abdul's feeding day. Should I hold out on feeding the little one or should I go ahead with it? I don't want to waste a good adult mouse if he doesn't eat. He was a bit skittish, but nonetheless adventurous once out of his enclosure, but I quickly put him back in. This is his personal time.

But my question: Feed him today or no?

You can offer, and he may or may not eat. We have two that eat even when they're in blue, and one that sometimes eats and sometimes doesn't when he's in blue. Either way, don't forget to bump the humidity up a bit to around 70% to help him have an easy shed.

Is he usually a good eater? And also are you feeding f/t? If he is then you could always go ahead and feed him (you may receive a nip if the eye sights off though) , but they do tend to go off food during shedding so if you don't want to waste food, waiting until next week won't do him any harm.

Nothing and I mean nothing will put one of mine off food so I went ahead and fed him on his usual day, but that is because I could almost guarantee he wouldn't turn it down. That being said I wouldn't risk throwing live in until the sheds completely over =]

You may just have to test and experiment to get to know your snake.

Mine was in a great eating mode for a while and would eat during a shed or pre-shed, no problem.

Right now, he is finicky, so I have no problem delaying his feed due to a shed. That way I know there may be a better chance of him being hungry a week or so later.

I have some that will actively hiss and get defensive when blue, some that are just kinda "meh", and a select few that will still try to eat you hand, face, ect, if they are hungry. You can just skip a week or try it, just don't leave live unattended as the snake aim may suck right now. Actually, I feed mostly live, and generally just skip any who are at all blue.
