    Exclamation First day jitters?

Hey guys, this is my second post. My first post was related to feeding my BP on his first day here and whether or not he'd be afraid to eat.. but to be honest, the only person who seems to be afraid is me!

So my beautiful baby BP came all the way from California this morning and I cannot believe how amazing he is so far. He's very calm and he took to me quicker than I thought. But I'm a little concerned. I've been testing out the temps for a few days before he got here and they seem very fine, but I'm not. I don't want to stress him out, but I can't help but keep checking on him to see if he's too hot or too cold, if there's enough water for him, or what he's doing. (Could you imagine me with a newborn child? Haha.) I'm not asking for any deep-deep advice, but is it all in my head? Is it normal for a first time BP owner to be overly-concerned and act as a "helicopter parent?" I know as the days and months go on, I'll become a little more comfortable with him and I'll eventually let go of this anxious feeling, but I can't help it.

So far, he spent his first 2-3 hours in the warm area. His body went from cool (in the mailing package) to warm (in his enclosure). He eventually ventured off into the cooler side, resting his head on the water-bowl, then went back to his warm spot. His body being warm is a good thing, right? (See! I'm going crazy! Sorry guys.)

Anyways, Can any of you recount your first day (or first few days) as a Ball Python owner? Were you the same way? Sorry for this crazy post. I just want Abdul to live healthy!

We are ALL like this, bcz as humans we want them to love us and care for us as we nurture them, BUT they are snakes, They need the bare minimum, Feel free to check and look aslong as ur not poking and prodding 24/7 i check my guys 3-4 times a day all 31 of em, make sure water/no mess and double check temps 1-2 times a week even with my herpstat being all good.. Its just our nature, but dont worry hell be ok if all ur temps are good! the first day I had mine i was misting every friggen hour bcz anaglog hygrometer was crap, i dont think he minded as much but hey, Aslong as he eats/has temps/doesnt appear stressed Check all ud like! Youll eventually understand what his needs are and you can take a day or so to relax knowing hes ok

His first night here seemed to go pretty well. I woke up an hour ago and he was under his hide relaxing. It was about 2am when I had turned on the light and forgot he was there. Half of his body was hanging out. I'm sure he was quite active during that time.

It seems that he's had a pretty decent night and my everlasting anxiety got the best of me!
