Some pics of my first beardie.

Just got him. He's a one year old male from a local pet shop and he's HUGE. I named him Tramples because he completely trashes his tank after I leave for work. He's got a bit of an attitude, probably from being stuck in a pet shop but I'm thinking he'll tame down after a week or two. He's really handsome for a normal, he has a lot of white and yellow, if I can get him out and in good light I'll get some more hi-def pictures.

very cool...couple quick questions, what size tank is he in, and are you planning on keeping the reptile carpet in there or is it just temporary?

    He's in a 36" l x 18" w x 12" t tank. I was planning on keeping the repti carpet, I hadn't heard anything negative about it unless you have some information I don't know.

I personally am not a fan of the reptile carpet. I know some people like it, but IMO it is a breeding ground for bacteria, it doesn't allow the beardie to burrow or hide if he wants to, his nails can get caught in it and if he dumps water it stays damp. I am a fan of using a deep layer of Sani Chips or a dirt mix, my beardie loves to dig burry himself at night. I also saw that wire inside the cage, I assume its for a thermometer or Tstat? I would some how fix it down so the lil man can't get tangled in it. Congrats on the new pet, they are fun little lizards.

Hey thanks for letting me know! I'll try it out. Any recommendations for fastening down the thermometer probe? I don't want to use tape.

Congrats on the new addition! He looks very handsome! Two of mine are on paper towels, and the other two are on non-adhesive shelf liner. I don't use anything to attach the thermometer probe, and I've never had a problem with it, but you could probably use a bit of glue from a hot glue gun to attach it to the branch you have.

I use hot glue myself. You may not have an issue, but my beardie is constantly moving around, and if he were to catch the wire and move it from the hot spot your readings that you are taking will then be incorrect. It may not be a big deal, but why risk it?
