    Plastic mesh safety?

Today I bought a used tank ($15 woot woot) but the wire mesh lid had a hole in it. So I replaced it with plastic screen.
My question is, will the plastic mesh melt if I set a CHE on top of it? It's only 100 watts, and it won't be in direct contact with the screen, but I've accidentally melted plastic bags with it before so I want to make sure it's okay.
    Thanks!

Don't know myself but 10 bucks isn't too heavy on the pocket for a new top is it?

You can take the chance and end up with melty crap everywhere and a possible burned/escaped snake or just grab a correct top to suit your worries and needs.
