Is Thor afraid of his rat?

I know that BP's fast sometimes and that it's normal.

but my 650g one will stalk his rat, go into strike mode, but ball up as soon as the rat moves.
    What's going on with him?
is he fasting or just being stubborn?

Mine often does the same thing. It does not mean its a fast, I would just try again next week, or whatever schedule you are on. He might just have to poop or something and doesnt feel like eating.

Also just double check your husbandry make sure everythings okay and maybe leave him alone for a little bit just in case he is stressed

Checking husbandry was the first thing I did. ahaha. Cool side - 80-82. Warm side 89-91. Humidity 55-60%. Identical hides on both sides.

He's been in hunt mode since I took the rat out. Slithering around, tongue is a-going. I have the rat in a tub two shelves up from him and I think he knows it's there because he won't stop flicking his tongue at the lid of his enclosure and bumping it with his nose... He's just being a goof.

i have the same issue with my bumblebee.....i know she's hungry because she's always in hunt mode.
the only way i can make her eat is if i restrict a rat by holding its tail. she loves stalking the struggling rat, she coils her neck like a spring and eyeballs the rat for minutes before finally committing to strike. this is impossible with a free roaming rat because she is very head shy and immediately hides when the rat comes anywhere near her snout. i've tried fresh killed, she will have none of it even if i do the zombie dance. i'm trying to turn her into an agressive eater by offering rats every few weeks only, it's not doing anything.even if she's very hungry she always needs an eternity of posing before she will finally strike.
