Adopted adult male bearded won't eat

    Hi everyone,

My newly adopted adult male bearded dragon refuses to eat. I know he needs time to settle in (it's been 3 days) I'm just wondering how long does it normally take for a mature beardie to adjust to a new home? It's the refusal to eat or drink that concerns me. He's also very nervous in his enclosure, he pancakes and does not change positions at all. I even wake up in the morning and he's in the same position he went to bed in. His lighting and temps are correct (powersun MVB bulb 16" from him, temps are 100 on the hot/basking side and 80 on the cool side), humidity is 40%.

Im im just wondering the estimated time for him to start feeling up to eating or even moving around his tank? Just a concerned new mom!

    Thanks everyone!

It can take a little bit to settle in. Beardies generally get their water intake from the food they eat. I offer mine a water bowl, but he hardly ever goes near it. Is he in a glass enclosure? If so cover the back and sides with something so he can only see out one side. What have you tried offering him food wise? Depending on what he has fed before, he may or may not take certain items. My beardie got a taste for dubias, and won't touch crickets anymore.

    Hey thanks for replying

Yes, I already have three sides of his terrarium (glass with doors that open in front) covered. I have been offering him what his previous owner feeds him.

But I have good news!! As of today he ate 15 king worms. Hopefully this is the beginning of our beardie eating. Only thing is, the previous owner told me he really doesn't eat veggies or fruit. That will be a challenge!

    Thanks again
