    Scale to weigh ball python

Was going to invest in a scale to weigh my python in soon. Does anyone have any recommendations on one that is durable and will be big enough when they are full grown? Thanks

Re: Scale to weigh ball python

Well chemical scales are very nice cheaper in most cases abd can weigh more so let's do a 5000g scale hmm if I'm right $20-$30 for a good one but balls if I remember most only get 3,000g that's a big female right there 0_0 but I could be wrong on the adult weight. Like I said a good chemical one would be nice any lab shop or chemical store online ( lab supplie store) would sell them just look around a bit you'll find one but a 5,000g scale should be more then enough. How this helps

I was asking the same question before and was advised to go to walmart and found one. A 5000gram kitchen scale. I paid $39

Gotta love your chemist I estimated the price pretty good with the weighing capacity you should get. I'd do a ok kitchen scale there tough I use a lot for my pyrotechnics and other one for snakes and then my kitchen for my foods if I cook

Do balls even get close to that Idk if I need that much. Maybe a over weight ball but maybe you get into bigger snakes so you might want to listen to monkey think ahead too!

I use this kitchen food scale from Walmart, up to 6.6 lbs $25 for my smaller guys and weighing feeders: http://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Bigges...acity/11090896

For the bigger guys a bathroom scale, subtracting my individual weight from the total weight of me holding the snake

We bought the scale off reptilebasics.com it will weigh up to 75 pounds. The biggest ball python i have heard about was 10,000 grams! Thats 22 pounds! It was 6.5 feet long!

you have two things: maximum weight, and resolution.

i would aim for something like: 5000 grams maximum, resolution 1 gram or 2 grams. that will also work for really small snakes, and even smaller food items. these are quite affordable, even with a high resolution of 1 gram.

chemical scale / kitchen scale sounds fine.

if you just go for a high maximum, resolution may be lower, and you may not be able to properly measure a 6 gram mouse or a 14 gram mouse.
