How much handling is over handling?

I'm just curious, how much handling is over handling? I do not handle him every day, maybe a couple days a week. When I do take him out I hold him for about 35 minutes to an hour or mabye less depending on what is going on. He seems comfortable because he is moving around and the toung is going. He loves to explore. I know you can over handle them but I just what to know when it becomes too much so I know I am not stressing him out or anything. Thanks~

I think what you're doing right now if completely fine. If you notice change in appetite, i'd recommend handling less if at all. Otherwise, you should be ok.

I think It depends on the individual snake. If you handle the snake and its trying to "run away" then its probably had enough. Some seem to do well will any amount of handling while others mighr tolerate it for less time.

I wouldn't try to hold him to much in the daytime they tend not to like it much. You'll be able to tell from you're snakes reactions to handling to know if it's too much. It does get better and from my experience its fairly quick , 1 month for me to notice different behavioral reactions for my 10 month old normal male

Our Spider ball loves being handled, she will come out and just hang out. We normally handle her along with let her roam around a bit in our room, so its a mix of both. Our Pastel on the other hand it takes him a bit to warm up to being handled while out.

If you notice a change in behaviour, that's a sign of stress. In which case they've had enough

When I think of over-handling, I think of someone who constantly disrupts and moves hides to take out their snake several times a day, for long periods at a time. I don't know anyone who does this, but I bet there are those out there who do.

But again as mentioned, every snake is different! Some may be comfortable coming out a couple times a day or every day, while others may only tolerate it once a week or less.

Personally I take my corn out during the day because she is sleeping, and when I get her she's nice and calm and it takes her a minute to wake up. That way she's not spooked by me at night when she's out roaming, and trying to slither away. I usually wait until dusk for my ball python because he's already at the front of the vive trying to get out!

I used to ask myself the same question wondering if I was overdoing it. I'll leave them alone for at least 4 days after they eat and carefully watch their demeanor when I do handle them. Sounds like you got the right formula for handling your guy If you've noticed nothin odd.

I agree that every snake is different. I wouldn't take them out multiple times a day every day, and also not within 24 hours of a meal (48 if it's a big meal or there is still a visible lump). If they will tolerate otherwise daily handling then it's fine unless you notice a decrease in appetite, in which case try handling less and see if that helps.
