Ringers? I don't really understand them.

Hey guys just curious about ringers. I've seen the for a little while and never got an explanation of them.

I heard on a couple of YouTube videos people saying something about he's het pieds having ringers. Yet I'm almost positive that I've seen non het pieds with ringers.

A ringer is when the pattern and color dissolve near the tail up towards the top of the back, like this:

Het pieds have ringers because you could argue that a pied is just an extreme ringer gene. There are others that are prone to this effect as well.

My super pastel het pied has what I like to call a blurred ringer.

Some Het Pieds have ringers; however, having a ringer doesn't make a BP a Het Pied. A couple typical ringers:

A lesser cinnamon poss. het pied


A fire ringer

Some het pieds will have ringers. But a ringer doesn't necessarily mean the snake is het pied.
Ringers are also pretty common in Calico/Sugars and fire gened stuff as well

Thanks guys. So, sometimes being het pied causes a ringer. But it is really just a random trait?
