Unhappy Need help with humidity problem

Ok so I bought this little ball python from a breeder. With the snake came a 50 gallon PVC enclosure plus water dish and hide. I named him Cornelius.

After a particularily bad shed last week( he is doing great now) that I helped him through I vowed to not let that happen again. So I went out and bought a hydrometer and misting bottle. The humidity turmed out to be around 40%, and when I misted I was able to bring up the humidity to a reasonable range but it would never keep.

Today I switched to coconut fibre from using newsprint as a substrate. Now the hydrometer reads: 82-90%, which is way too high. I moved the enclosure farther away from the way but that still hasn't put me in the desirable range.

    So I have two questions:

    1) How do I lower this humidity into that 50-70% sweet spot?
    2) how long can he tolerate this humidity before he get sick, is 6-12 hours ok?

    Hope you can help. Thanks.

I would use aspen bedding... it holds humidity pretty well, the coco husk is awesome for screen tops but holds it too well for PVC and tubs. Tubs ya can more holes for more ventilation, but I'm not sure you can do that with your enclosure
