    Going out of town

Hi guys! We are new to beardies. We have had Rango for a couple of months.

We are going out of town for my son's hockey tournament. We leave Friday afternoon & come back Sunday evening.

Can he be left without food for that time? Should we make a bowl of greens up & leave it in there? Leave lights on or off?

Any advice would be great. Thank you!

I would just skip feeding while your gone, it should be fine. Lights should be on a timer anyway, just leave it going. All my reptiles have to face a week with no food once a year when I go on vacation, because whenever I have tried to have someone feed I end up with problems. Now I just have someone check water and haven't had an issue.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Definitely put the lights on a timer! It's so much more convenient! How old is Rango? For my adults, I have just given them a salad the morning I left as usual, and they were fine (I was gone for 3 days). For a younger beardie, if you can get some dubias or phoenix worms and leave them in a bowl for him, that would be great (they can't climb out of a bowl as long as the sides are smooth and fairly steep). As long as he's not a baby, he should be fine without food for a few days, though.

One thing we don't have is a timer. My bf is unemployed right now, so someone is always home & we just turn lights on when we get up & turn off 12 hrs later. We will go get one.

Okay, at his age and size, he should be fine if you don't leave food. If you feed him before you leave on Friday, and then on Sunday (or Monday if you get back late on Sunday), he'll only be missing a day or two.

The timer will definitely help - having the lights on or off the entire time you're gone would really confuse him. One of my beardies' bulbs blew this weekend, and I wasn't home to notice and replace the bulb until around noon (his lights normally come on at 7:30am). He sulked the rest of the day
