Injury
Hi guys,
So I went to take my little dude out for a walk ( jokes ) and I saw this cut on his head,he was making a bit of noise last night,so I was looking at his hide and he's managed to chip a bit of the porcelain off, repaired the hide just worried about the cut, shall I just leave it to dry or shall I do something ? It doesn't look infected or anything like that..
Thanks

Re: Injury
I don't think that's from the hide. In your other post, you stuffed paper into that gap at the top of the background... That's where this came from. In the process or nosing around up there, a couple of scales got caught in the screen. I'll give you three guesses how I know...
Keep it clean, and consider putting something up there to keep his head from rubbing the screen.

Your wrong mate,if I put a pic of the corner of the hide you'll see that it was the hide and not a bit of paper,I need suggestions if to leave it or try to cure it.. Thanks

Time Dilation is real, it is so real that all clocks if they are precise enough can measure it, and GPS could not possibly work without it. If you disagree, send me a PM.

Re: Injury
It does not look bad, if you are really worried you can put some Neosporin on it.

Looks fine. Just a missing scale. It will heal with a few sheds.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I didn't mean that the piece of paper was what caused this. I was using the paper as a reference point. I saw in another thread that you wedged a piece of paper into the gap in the background where the wires go through. If you look at the top of the background, there's a smaller gap that runs all the way across the tank. My BP has the annoying habit of wedging her nose into that gap, and trying to force her head into it. When she REALLY gets going, she'll push the top of her head into the screen. That's where I was saying the scales caught. Ajja has a little scar in exactly the same spot your snake has, and that's what hers is from.
That's also what I meant about covering it up. I meant to wedge something into that narrow gap across the top of the background, so that an inch or two of the screen is covered. That would keep the top of his head from rubbing against the abrasive screen.
I hope that makes a little more sense than before. I AM curious about this hide you're using, though.
Either way, as I said before, just make sure it stays clean and dry. As long as it is, it shouldn't require any antibiotic ointment. If you want to be REALLY careful, you could always switch to paper towel substrate until it heals. That way you could change substrate daily and keep it cleaner. As it is now, you can swab it once or twice a day with a diluted betadine solution. He should be mostly healed after the next shed.

Re: Injury
When I first got bumblebee I noticed a very similar wound on top of her head. I attributed it to her following off of the log we had in her tank, pre rack system. I applied Neosporin to the wound every two or three days with a Q-tip being extra gentle. It was gone within a few sheds. Keep in mind that a few sheds can take a few months, so try to keep her environment clean during the healing process.
