    My Red/Tan Catahoula "Si"

I had mentioned how my solid registered Catahoula pup gets mistaken for a red Doberman all the time in the other thread, and I didn't want to hijack it, so I figured I'd make my lil buddy his very own thread. He is now 5 1/2mths old, he was about 4mths in these photos but I thought they were really cute so I figured I'd share. He weighed in at 43 pounds last week on the vet scale. Even the girl at the vets office was telling me what a beautiful dobie pup he is, haha. I hear that almost everywhere we go, and probably will until he gets a bit older. This guy is my constant companion, love him to pieces. Here is Silas, aka Si.

You'll probably hear that forever, people are dumb. Looks like a really fun pup and I just love tan point dogs in general.

Very cute! I have actually never seen a catahoula in any other color than the blue merle. He is very handsome and with those big paws, it looks like he is going to be a big boy!

At first glance, I do admit that I would have thought Red Doberman as well. The body structure is a little different though.
He is a handsome fellow. And what a goof!

Thanks for sharing! I've never seen a Catahoula in that color either. What is it called for the breed? Is it chocolate, red, other? Or is it just "solid".

Awww what a cute pup!! And ^^x2 on this haha. When my doggy was alive he always got mistaken for a Giant Schnauzer when he was a Bouvier Des Flanders/Golden Retriever mix and looked nothing like a Giant Schnauzer because we never got him professionally groomed to look like one, we always cut his hair ourselves. But thanks for sharing your cutie with us! He's gunna be getting a lot of attention

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

Yeah, folks aren't used to seeing 'solid' colored Catahoulas much. A lot of people don't even know they exist. The term solid is used on any Cat that is not leopard, or patchwork.

Si, according to the breed standard, is considered 'Red with Tan trim'......although I would call him Chocolate, lol. Solids come in Black and Tan, Black, Red and Tan, Red, and I believe that's it. Then of course you have the leopard and the patchworks even with brindle thrown in at times.

He's my buddy. One of the most intelligent puppies I've ever raised without question. He is SO smart.
