My christmas present was a perfect shed!

I'm now about a month into my first snake experience. When her eyes went blue on Saturday, I dove into all the reading I could find on here about the shedding process. I did some quick math, and noticed that if everything went well, I might expect a Christmas surprise. I've been misting the tank to keep it above 70%, and after I got home from dinner last night, she had left me my gift. I was a little worried about keeping the levels up in a glass tank, but the shed came out perfectly.

After that, since this only left her a day past her normal feed schedule, I decided to give her her own Christmas dinner. I know this small rat is a little bit large for her, but these are the smallest f/t rats I've been able to find. She has been swallowing them without issue, so I just turn the belly heat up for a few days, and let her have them. She came from Petsmart, and was underfed there (they recommended a small mouse once a week, which is clearly waaaaay too small).

I've also got her Animal Plastics T8 on the truck for delivery today, so I get to put that together this afternoon. Unfortunately, the glass for it still hasn't shipped, so I have to wait awhile before she can go in it.

So, how many of these do I have to collect before I can get some boots made out of them?

Got the T8 in and put together. Now I need to figure out the layout. I could put the heat tape on the one side to make a gradient, but I'm worried that alone won't be enough to heat the cool side up to 80. For that, I might be better having it in the center, with a cool spot on each side.

This picture is with it on the right side. I would put a hide over there, and maybe another grape vine. I can definitely fit a hide under the vine that's in there. In the center is a live bromeliad that I mentioned in another thread. I'm hoping it will be tough enough for snake duty, and if so, I'll put a few more in. I don't want anything fake in there except the water bowl, and maybe I'll go with some of the natural looking hides.

Found these two trying to make friendly this morning.

And then I caught this little scene.

It was at this point that I noticed the similarity in their coloring, and was amazed by this living evidence of convergent evolution on display in my own home. Notice how they even have similar stripes near the eyes.
