How old is your snake? It depends on age, how often they are fed, and environment. My girl was shedding 2x a month the first year I had her then went to once a month. Now she's shed 1 time in 4 months at 4 yrs old. She eats as much as I will let her lol. As a baby she was eating every 5 days even while in shed so she shed more often. I had a friend that got one about the same age and size that only shed 1x a month. He also didn't feed as much or rather as often as I did.

As long as your ball python has a hefty appetite, then shedding that often is fine! Babies will shed about once a month. If it's a full grown BP who isn't breeding and is shedding that often, you have to consider if the snake has an injury like a cut or burn. They will shed more often as a healing mechanism.

Also would like to ask he has not come out for 5 nights (he is in the process of shedding) and my dad is getting all worried (although I said he's just shedding and explained etc) and he told me to ask, is this normal?

Gonna show this to my Dad!!http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...edding-Process

That's also kinda normal. When in shed they don't come out or move much till the shedding is done. Mine can be in his hide for a week and up to 8 days before he starts tearing his old skin away
