Question Do BP require a heat light?

Hello friends. Me and Mojo are new to this site. I was wondering besides having a heat pad under the tank, do I also have to have a heat light on top of tank as well??

    Thanks

You don't necessarily need a heat light, but you do need the ambient temperature in the enclosure to be around 80F. If the ambient temp (air temps on the cool side), is under 80F you will probably need some sort of heat bulb, or to move them to a heated room.

Stick on the glass SUCKS, they are not accurate at all....................Your best bet is to go to Walmart or HomeDepot and get a indoor/outdoor digital Accurite

Robert is absolutely right. Those stick-on's are worthless, the Accurite is a far better product. I'd also recommend an infrared temp gun as well. For $30.00 you can get an accurate temp gauge that will tell you the temperature in every part of the tank.

Like everyone already said, definitely go with the Acurite. Here's a link to the one most people here use because you can put the "outside probe" on your UTH to monitor that as well. It also reads humidity. I got mine at Wallmart.

    http://www.acurite.com/environment/t...red-probe.html

Also, I recommend a zoomed infrared thermometer for an easy point and click temps. I have both.

Edit: Wizard is spot on. Didn't see the infrared recommendation at first.

Here is the link for the AcuRite through Walmart. Best price at $12.24. I use thewse in all my enclosures. Put the unit on the cool side and the wired probe on the warm side. Also fairly accurately measures humidity.

no heat light needed. They actually reduce the humidity, which can be a problem depending on where you are.
