Which habitat is best?

To have a successful tank,you will need a bunch of stuff..I'll tell you what I have

-1 hide
-1 UTH mat
-1 thermostat ( hydro farm )
-1 electronic thermometer
-1 analog hygrometer placed accordingly
-1 thermometer strip on hot side
-1 large water bowl
-some fake plants and fake vines
-double twin dome one bulb for day and one bulb for night.

im using aspen for bedding in this set up for now atleast,so I keep sphagnum moss on hand. I also have reptile spray and PAM,incase a mite issue arises,just playing it safe.

You guys are THE BEST - thanks! I think that I'll start with a "cluttered" 40 gallon aquarium just to get started, and will then upgrade. I don't mind the extra work and like I said, its just a temporary fix. He's still going to need plants, hides, bowls, etc.. no matter what he lives in.

I have a 40 gallon glass tank right now, and its a pain in the butt to keep temps and humidity. If you're planning on buying a bigger glass tank I'd advise you against it.

I would personally suggest to keep your bp in a 20 gallon glass which you already have (correct me if I'm wrong) until your bp outgrows it so you can save up for a bigger PVC or wooden terrarium.

I have a 40 gallon glass tank right now, and its a pain in the butt to keep temps and humidity. If you're planning on buying a bigger glass tank I'd advise you against it.

I would personally suggest to keep your bp in a 20 gallon glass which is cheaper and easier to heat while he's a baby. That tank will be enough for at least a year if not more. When your bp outgrows it, you can upgrade to a bigger PVC or wooden terrarium which is aestheticly pleasing and easier to keep temps and humidity. Just my two cents from my experience.

I use a 100W bulb in my 3ft vivarium. I have 8 BP's an done vivarium type enclosure... I now use tubs and by god are they so much easier to work with! I use heat mats on these. With the ceramic bulb I find that I have real issues with humidity in comparison to the tubs I use for the others.

I suspect that like most things, if you ask 100 people for their opinion, you'll get 100 different answers..... I'm going to have to do some more research on this so that I make the right decision for my snake.......

It pretty much comes down to opinion and personal preference. Whether you get a PVC, tubs, glass, or any other terrarium, you should have correct temperatures, humidity, and safety precautions (thermostat & thermometer). Everything else is pretty much is a personal preference. Some people use paper towels for substrate while others use coco husk. There's people who just put two hides and a water bowl while others totally deck out their terrarium with plants, branches and cool hiding places.

At the end of the day, as long as correct husbandry is observed, everything else depends on you (definitely with common sense though). Hope this helps to make you decision easier.
