half blind bp

So i had my monthly check up for my little one today and found out garfield cant see out of his right eye. His eye was kinda glossy when i got him and got him checked out when i first got him and pointed it out to the vet. We thought it was a eye cap at first. He has had a lot of sheds sence then and it hasent gone away. Took him in for this visit to a diffrent vet and he agreed with me that its not an eye cap and that hes blind out of his right eye. Ill try to get a pix up in a couple days. He just ate. Now i know why he doewnt strike at his food and i can feed him by hand. He just lightly takes his food out of my hands.

Oh man, I'm sorry that he's blind in one eye. But I am immensely glad that you have him and that you're taking such good care of him. It's wonderful that he trusts you enough to feed from your hand.

Thanks. Im just glad i know what's going on with him now so i can find better ways to care for him so he's not at a disadvantage and can live a happy life.

Not sure if u can see it cause of the quality but the eye is glazed over.

I'm glad he's got a good owner, and that he is so gentle! I have a little girl who was born with only one eye, but has the feistiest personality to compensate for it! lol

Great job taking care of your little guy! I have a larger sized female that came to me as a rescue. She had several layers of built up shed on her left eye and it had caused her eye to sink in. She's lost full vision in it, but she still does just fine getting around and has no problem whatsoever taking food (she was half starved when I got her too, so she's something of a garbage bin and will eat anything I give her). I'm sure your guy will do great and learn to compensate for the loss.

Nah, some snakes are gentle like that. I've heard of of completely blind BPs who attack the crap out of prey, while I've personally had my entirely not-blind BP just gently swallow her prey without striking or constricting. Lazy little noodle, she is...
Anyway, good job with taking care of him and glad to see he's doing fine otherwise!

One of my females is blind in one eye due to previous owners negligence. She's one of my fiestiest eaters, and would eat daily if I'd let her!
