    Out exploring

she was a little shy at first, but she seemed to warm up to being handled after the first few minutes. just wanted to share the pic.

Nice coloration! I love the way there is the green down the spine and than after the black it is brown!

yeah when i got her there was another female from the same clutch that seemed to be less shy about being handled, but i just loved this one's coloration so much i decided that it would be worth it if i had to work with her a little extra to get her used to handling. and really, for her age i think she is doing quite well. after all, this was only the first time she has been out.

Following up on your other thread...and looking at her girth...she could take down a hopper mouse without any strain whatsoever. Feed hoppers for a few weeks, and move on to small adult mice. Babies grow VERY fast.

yeah i think she has actually grown since i got her--i noticed when i had her out last night that she was bigger than i thought. i hadn't really seen a whole lot of her girth since she had been hiding a lot and i gave her the week to settle in. but i'm going to the petstore this week to get some hoppers.

They grow very fast. My 7 month old is already about 35" long. Common saying around here is that "they grow like weeds...."

Don't be afraid to bump up prey size if you see them having a very easy time with the size you presently feed them. They do appreciate good sized meals, and their growth will reflect that. Its also good because you can feed at longer intervals. Captive snakes have been know to do well on appropriate prey items less often than smaller prey items more often.

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.
