Just wondering how many days after feeding can a snake regurgitate its food? Also how long should I wait after feeding until I can handle it?
Two new baby BP's Scayler and Dax.

generally, in my experience, you should wait at least 24 hours to handle after meals, but it depends on the snake.. i can handle mine at 12 hours after without regurg. probs.

Well usually people wait a few days after feeding before handling the snake, so I was under the impression that after two days, their meals are fully digested. So I would think they could regurgitate anytime before a day after their meal. Not sure though.

i think the reason they wait a two days is to be safe... i dont think thier meals are digested after that, they have a slow matabolism, and i know when i handle mine, i cant still feel thier last meal in them, just not as big for sure. they can regurg at any time really, i had a rat snake who would after 4 days after a meal if she was being handled and she felt it was not to her liking. i think stress triggers it, with a full stomach, they are unable to get away from preditors as fast, without, they can go faster..

i think too, it depends on how acclimated your snake is to its enviroment and you, it really depends on each snake i think.

I always give at least 2 days before handling unless i have to for cleaning purposes. Its really a matter of personal preference, but you dont want your bp to endure the stress of regurg.

Jojo usually lets me know when he wants to be handled. I have had him long enough to know that when he is out of his hide and moving about all over his enclosure that he wants to come out for a little while.
That is a very good question i have heard everything from a day to 3 days. Depending on the size of the meal. If its a small meal like a weaned rat i will wait maybe a day at least. If he eats a small rat i will wait for at least 3 days.
Thanks,
Damien
