Ramona is currently trying to eat her first rat. The rat (f/t) seemed to be as wide as Ramona's thickest part, but now that she's trying to eat him, he seems huge! I'm worried she'll choke! I don't know if that's possible, but he seems really big. His head is in, that's it so far. What to do?

lol i don't think they can choke maybe over feed and regurgitate but that is unlikely for a ball they know what they can handle. I heard this story of a retic eating a goat or something and it was to big for it and it died from over feeding but this is a much more extreme case.

I was told that if the snake figures out that it has bitten off more than it can chew it will simply spit it back out, for lack of better words lol

Size is definitely not something to sweat as long as it isn't any bigger than the snake's girth at the largest point. They know what they can and can't take down. Just don't worry about it, and enjoy the show!

    Snake Keeper's at it again

Nope, day time here. My snake lives at school (I'm a teacher) so she gets fed during the day. She must have known it was Monday, too, because she was active all morning!

Remember not to handle her after that large meal. Imagine going for a jog after a super buffet. LOL. Now get ready for her to GROW.
    Thanks,

I'm so excited about her appetite! I hope she grows and grows She's a rescue--abandoned with a big burn down her belly---it's great to see her healthy now! I'm always surprised hwo active she is after a meal, though. She's been slithering around her tank, swimming, then basking, then soaking, etc.
