    Newbie Question about shedding!!!!

I have a question about shedding. I got my BP male in Sept he is a year old and was being fed F/T Hoppers (he weighed 190g) through the forum I learned I had to increase his food size so I recently switched him to F/T Adult Mice which he took no problem. Last week I noticed he was no coming out as much and hiding in his hide. So I let him be, on Thursday (feeding day) I pulled off his hide and discovered his dull scales and blue eyes which I know is the start of the shedding process. Despite his shed he ate (such a good boy). I have left him alone and kept his humidity between 70-80. He is still hiding and still has not shed. Should I be pulling him out and looking at him, should I be leaving him alone? How long should this take? Is it normal for them to hide? Thanks

There is a fantastic thread at the top of this forum regarding shedding.

I wouldn't take him out and look at him. Mine do not like being bothered during their shed, especially once their eyes cloud up.

Everything you described is normal. Just keep the humidity up. It can go anywhere from 7-14 days.

Leave him be,increase humidity and constantly mist the tank...my boy had his first shed and it lasted about 5 days, but he was weird for about 10 days, not his normal self .

mine ate also when he first started to shed I also handled him at first and he was a good boy as we'll. good luck your guy will be fine, just leave him be.

He sounds just fine, just keep misting . If feeding day comes again and he still hasn't shed, you can still go ahead and feed if you like, although it won't hurt to wait either, it's up to you.

I find it funny you have a male pastel named Monty that you got at the exact same time I got mine. My guy just shed he was in the "blue" stage with the cloudy eyes and shed 3 days after and was in his hide more than usual. I still held him during the blue stage and he didn't mind it at all. He looks better than I expected after his first shed.
