Okay I bought a heat pad exact model (Dunlap) in that picture Gen showed me ... here goes my questions -

    1) Do I keep the "housse" cover on the heat pad, or take it off?

    2) What setting (low, med, high) should I keep the heat pad on if its about 70-75 degrees in my home, and I'm using a 50W Infared lamp and heat pad.

    3) How much space should there be between the heat pad and my sterilite tank?

    1. It doesnt really matter.

    2. You need to test out the different setting to know what the temps are at each setting. Put the thermometer on the heat pad and set it to low and test then to medium and test and so on.

    3. I have mine flush with it but it doesnt get too hot. Only about 90* inside on the surface.
    Thanks,
    Damien

ErR Actually it does matter if you keep the cover on or off, it gets really hot without the cover.
