    Dresser re-do

Hey all. So I got this dresser from my neighbor, but it had this hideous wood veneer that needed to go ASAP! So I've been working on it here and there. I'd love some opinions on this. Originally I had planned to do it in off-white/crean with turquoise/teal-ish drawers. Unfortunately I couldn't find the right color, and settled with this baby blue type paint. Now I'm kind of worried it looks too much like nursery furniture :/

    Before:

With a couple coats of cream:

And with my blue test drawer:

Should I go ahead with the blue, paint it all cream, or go with a different color altogether? Also, I plan on repainting the hardware (I can't stand brass!).

I like the cream, but I think it would be cool if you took some sandpaper to it after for a distressed look.

Derp. I totally forgot to mention I'll be distressing it once I've got the colors down. But thank you for reminding me!! So should I paint it all cream, or leave the drawers blue? I've got some people telling me go monochromatic, others saying to go two-toned. Ugh.

Looks nice but it does look like it should be in a baby boys room. i'd go chocolate brown on the drawers and then cream again on the hardware.

Ooh I hadn't thought of brown. I usually like obnoxiously bright colors, but I think that would work really well. I was trying to recreate my old room with this piece. I did it in teal and grey, and I looooved how it turned out

Just for fun, here's a dresser and chair I redid in college

I think a brighter color on the drawers would be better than light blue. That teal/turquoise color is nice!

That looks awesome! I love furniture like this. Really retro!

    Re: Dresser re-do

Looks good Moot, I don't like the blue though I say make it all cream. I actually enjoy redoing furniture, painting, decorating and improving my house/yard my self.

With how expensive dressers and furniture is now, it's always great to take on a project like this. You get to have it the way you want and be proud of it when finished.
