Sad evening :( 1 baby dead in the egg

Well checked on the babies tonight and 2 of the babies were still in their eggs and not sticking their heads out. And one looked really odd, so I poked at it and nothing. Finally pulled it out and it was dead, it was alive this morning. But it was the one I was really worried about but thought I was worrying to much. But I guess not, it was the prettiest of the babies. It hadn't absorbed any of the yolk and still had veins in it. But it was plainly dead I hope I hadn't done anything to cause it, but it would convulse when the light would tough it when it was a live, and its head looks a little short in the snout. So it was probably not ment to live. I attached a pic of the baby after I pulled it out, I believe it is an Enchi, which makes me even more sad.

Thanks, just hoping the last baby makes it, not sure why it hasn't stuck its head out yet. I thought it was dead when I went back in there to check on it, but once I pulled its tail out it moved, but it looked like the umbilical cord was over its head, so I don't know whats going on with it. Hoping the 3 that are out are all ok and thrive. I will see what happens with the other baby in the egg in the morning.

Well the last baby in the egg was dead in the egg yesterday morning. I just don't understand what happened with the last 2. Neither of them absorbed any of their yolks, but didn't look like they had twisted umbilicals. So not sure what happened. But at least I have the 3 babies that are doing well so far.

I feel your pain, but it does happen from time to time, and is just part of the hobby.

I found this gem dead in the egg after everyone else pipped and crawled out on their own; it is always heartbreaking to see these poor little balls that didn't make it.

Could have been a number of things, possibly lithium fire, lithium pastel, pewter fire... who knows. It was more or less fully developed, but its still not always easy to tell.
