New member and a question :)

    Hello everyone!
My name is James and I currently live in Milan, Italy.
I have been lurking for a few days and found this forum very interesting and full of useful tips and I hope to get along with all of you guys
I just got my first female ball python 2 days ago, and i am fascinated by her. I know i will definitely buy at least another one sometime in the future!
I wanted to ask you guys a question, since being a newbie with this kind of animal i have to get used to its behavior and differences from other animals.
I set up her tank as per standards, with heat mat, aspen bedding, water, 2 hides, 2 logs and thermostat, and i was wondering if it was normal for her to be very very active on the first day, going around, climbing etc. while since last night she spent the whole time in her hide in the "cold" side of the tank, without even spending a minute on the hot side. (temp is 88°F with heat mat)
She looks calm, came out for a walk at about 8pm italian time, hanged around the lock of the cage and then returned in her hide.
Do i need to worry or is it fine and she's just adapting to the new house? Keep in mind that her tank in the shop was 1/3 the size of mine and that she's very young.

Sorry for the probably silly question for you pro's out there but i know you'll understand me

    Cheers

Sounds like perfectly normal behavior for adapting to her new set-up. Congrats on the new baby and welcome!

Just exploring. Though if you have any questions or want advice your best bet is to post any detailed information about your setup. Temps and what not.

The setup is fine, i guess i'll just leave her alone for a few days to let her settle down, she must be a little shy and therefore prefers to stay safe in her hide for now

I'll keep you all posted if i happen to need any advice! thanks again guys!

Congrats! I got my first BP last weekend, he did the same thing - super curious, roaming around most of the night, trying to get out (of course).
