Ringed neck snake

So a coworker brought in a hurt ring necked snake, the poor guy has a kinda big scratch along his neck, and looks like a cat had a go at him, I'm gonna try and get him healed up so I can release him back into the wild. My question is does anyone have any experience with these guys, and any basic info about this kind of snake and rehabbing a snake in general? Thank in advance guys!!

i used to have one a while back but it never ate for me and passed away, they are hard to keep and arent very common in the snake trade. they prefer a damp environment, using a shoebox tub should work very well, with either some leaf litter or a mixture of peat moss and sand for substrate. you can also use the soil that the earthworms come in, mixed with the substrate. place a couple flat rocks on the surface of the substrate. include a small water dish and spray the substrate ocasionally, especially under the flat rocks since they tend to burrow and hide beneath them. they will eat earthworms and other soft bodied invertebrates as well as amphibians and reptiles including other snakes. temps should be about 70-75 degrees.

Thank you, as for right now I'm only using paper towel as a substrate, till the wounds heal up, I'm not sure but I think he might have some spinal injurys cause of the way he keeps his head tilted, oh well, I'll try my best! Been researching about them all evening, helped my work day pass quickly!!

Well his injurys were to much and he didn't make it, but I really like the way these guys look so I might have to look into getting a pair at some point!

aww that sux. i hear they are pretty tricky to keep and not really common, the one i had didnt eat for me and died. at leas you tried

Well if you do i think three skulls has one you should ask for some advise from him if he dose.

I had one for about 9 months.
I'm pretty sure I ran over him with the mower or stepped on him. I made a pass and when I was coming back I saw him. Twisted up and bleeding from the mouth.
Took him home and a few days later he seemed ok but we ended up keeping him.
Was such a cool little snake. He would hit earth worms really hard like he was really doing something. :p
I had no idea of its age or if I had something else wrong. (I did find it out in the open on a sunny day). He seemed happy and healthy one day, as passed away the next.

Fed him earthworms and roaches. Eco Earth and moss. Kept one side damp. Had his cage in the bug room and at that time the temps were in the mid 70s.
