    2 Questions

1st: My Albino 160 grams has eaten 3 rat pups since last weighed. He shed after the first rat pup but didn't defecate. He gets fed Friday, he looks slightly backed up. Should I soak him a bit before the next feeding or will he just go when he's ready? Should I feed him Friday or get him to defecate first?

2nd: My Pied has eaten 6 rat pinkies since I've gotten her. She's going into her first shed with me. Tried to feed yesterday and she struck once but then showed no interest. Her eye caps are totally covered up so I can understand why she may not be eating. My other 2 snakes will eat during shed without issue. I know some snakes will not eat during shed and I'm sure there's no issue here but just hearing it from someone will make me feel a little better.

I worry about my snakes a little to much.

Were the rat pups fed weekly or did you feed them at the same time? I just want to be a bit more understanding before I offer any advice. I know you say he shed after the first rat pup, but was that one of the three you fed? I've seen some people type stuff up and mistakenly mean something else, so I just wanted to verify.

As far as your pied not eating while in shed that's okay. Some snakes will eat and some won't. I wouldn't worry about you because it's all a matter of preference to the snake. Her striking and not coiling is a defensive measure because something is coming near her, so just let her be until she sheds and then feed regular.

    Re: 2 Questions

One rat pup a week, the pups are between 25-30 grams. I weigh the snakes once a month. So after the weigh he's eaten 3 pups. After the first pup he shed but didn't defecate. Since the shed I've fed him 2 more rat pups, one per week.

If it were me I'd probably soak him just to help, but others may say to wait and that he'll do it when ready. After two feedings if I haven't noticed anything and it's on the third feeding, I'll soak them just it's what has always worked for me. I normally check on the two days prior to feeding to make sure. Then that way I know if I'm doing cage maintenance ahead of time, though there is the occasional unsuspecting mess to find on feeding day.

Okay, sounds good. Like I said he doesn't look to backed up but I don't want him to get impacted. Going to take another look at him tomorrow and give him a quick soak if he looks questionable. Thanks for the help.
