Ah darn.... Is this where that slot on the bottom of the T-8 comes into play? Seems that would help kee

p the mat all nice and flat if you can run the probe right up it, tape it in place and position the mat directly on top?

This is why I love my tank, he always comes out exploring after I clean mess with stuff. Of course, nice fresh clean water must be messed with.

Yes, the thermostat probe sits in the slot, and the heat tape lays over it. No bulge or anything:

You can sort of see the probe through the heat tape on the bottom of one of my T8's

T8's are great. I don't do much as far as decorating, but there is a huge potential for it:

might stick with something smaller. I've heard its a pain trying to find poop in a 20 gallon tank.

Question Re: How to Setup a Glass Tank (20 long) With Pictures!

So I followed these instructions and have my tank set up but I'm having a lot of problems with keeping the humidity level up. Any suggestions?

Hey can you post a pic of your setup? Is the top of your enclosure some sort of screen lid and did you cover that with something such as tin foil? Besides that you may need to increase the size of your water bowl so you have more surface area of water to increase evaporation. That will help raise the humidity if you are using a heat lamp that sits on top of the screen lid.

There are a couple pictures. I have a good sized bowl of water and the top covered by foil. I've been spraying it multiple times a day which brings the humidity up to between 60% and 70% for a little while but it goes back down to like %35 in under 2 hours.

    hi there, i'm new.

is there a reason why u cover the back and sides with paper? i was thinking of only putting in a background wallpaper of landscape scenery or something at some point.

The back and sides are covered to help make the ball python feel more secure. If your tank is sitting in a high traffic area of your home then this will help reduce stress to the snake from people walking by all the time.

I guess the background wallpaper may work. You want to attach it to the outside of the tank. That way it is easier to clean the inside of the tank. I used black construction paper and double sided scotch tape to attach mine. It has been on my same tank close to 3 years now with no trouble.
