For those of you that use Square for your credit card transactions..
Never vended a show. Heck I haven't even produced any babies yet. lol but I always thought the Square device was pretty nifty for shows and stuff. Just saw this on Facebook and it got me a little sketched out. anyone ever had this problem or had to deal with anything like this using Square?

Re: For those of you that use Square for your credit card transactions..
Well that is some BS makes me glad that I chose and setup a separate Paypal business accounts and got approved for the swiper account and card.
Instantly xfers over to my Paypal which is linked to my bank account so its a win win no waiting. Also it's cheaper then square per swipe.
Such poor customer service and I will let everyone I know how they really are. IMO they need to contact BBB and then serve them with a certified letter and lawyer up.

I've been useing square for almost two years now and have never had a problem. I've done a couple of thousand of dollars a day in car transactions and never had a problem. Now the things you're friend is mentioning are in their terms of service.
4. Verification and Inspection
If your request to open a Square Account is approved, Square may request additional information from you at any time. Square may ask you to present invoices from your suppliers, a government issued identification such as a passport or driver’s license, or a business license. Square may also ask for permission to inspect your business location. If you refuse any of these requests, your Square Account may be suspended or terminated.
So my advice is this. If you own or operate an actual business that pays taxes, keeps records, ect ect cool. What the above prevents is people portraying themselves as business when they truly aren't. So if your friend is a legit small business then he's golden, however if hes just "Joe Hobbiest" doing this on the side doesn't keep any records just breeds and sells snakes to make some extra money on the side and wants to use square to except credit cards he may be out of luck because that's not what they are designed for.

i don't know him, it was posted on a public forum. he made it seem like everything was legit and taxes were paid, he was just "high risk" because he was a breeder.

Most credit card transaction processors, including Square, will avoid any business that their underwriters deem "high risk". I've had the same problem finding a replacement merchant processor for my business (the last one kept increasing fees so I fired them), never mind that in five years I've never had a chargeback or even a dispute filed, and run several hundred thousand through CC's each year.

I've been using Square for three years and have processed thousands of dollars through it. This sounds fishy to me. Has anyone talked to the original person? This sounds very similar to an urban legend - this really happened to a friend. I'd like to hear it from the original source before I decide to change what I'm doing.
