Re: Mystic x Cinnamon Pewter Clutch Results

Just an update, the female Pewter possible Mystic has been eating and shed once, I am probably going to wait until she has at least 1 more shed before posting pictures (might post sooner if I get some time). The Cinnamon Mystic and Pastel Mystics have been eating well, but have not shed yet. After they shed I'll get pictures of them and post. The male Pewter possible Mystic is being stubborn and I am having to assist feed him, he's real easy to assist feed fortunately. I'll wait for him to shed twice before posting pictures. Hopefully he will start eating on his own soon.

awesome looking babies! those Mystic Pewters though, they look exactly like regular Pewters to me atleast (I never hatched Mystic Pewters though so I have no experience in this field) .. Mystic Pewter on this link http://www.worldofballpythons.com/morphs/pewter-mystic/ seems completely different to me though, but that's just my opinion

Re: Mystic x Cinnamon Pewter Clutch Results

Well, I've been feeding them and they are growing. The female Pewter possible Mystic is gaining yellow, so I think she may just be a Pewter, but the male Pewter possible Mystic still has a clean color to him and a very blushed out back. The 2 male Pastel Mystics are not as blushed as I would have hoped, but the line of Mystic that I am working with is fairly dark. I still think the other male is a Cinnamon Mystic based on color and distorted pattern. I have also included a picture with a female Pewter that the mother of this clutch produced last year. Thanks for looking and your input.

Realized I had a UV filter on when I took the other pictures, so here are a couple of the Mystic Cinnamon and Pastel Mystics (the Pewter possible Pewter Mystics were in shed).

First up is a picture of one of the Pastel Mystic with a Pastel het Hypo het Pied for a comparison

Next is a picture of the Pastel Mystic and the Mystic Cinnamon

Here is the Mystic Cinnamon by himself

Here is a shot of the female Pewter (top) and male Mystic Pewter (bottom)

Just thought I would post these as they've added weight.

I love the pewter mystics. What exactly does the Mystic gene do. Sorry for my noob question but I love the snakes!

These were just some quick pictures with the camera in full automatic mode. I was trying to get some baseline pictures with a new light set up. The next opportunity I get, I'm going to spend some time to pick the right camera settings. Hopefully that will take care of the darkness in these pictures. I may also re-balance the white and black based on the WhiBal card to see what that does.

In the Pewter Mystic, the Mystic tends to fade out the dorsal pattern and clean up the silver/gray color. Pastel Cinnamons (AKA Cinnamon Pewters or just Pewters) are known for having a yellow cast to them that turns brown as they mature. The Mystic gene stops this in the Pewter Mystic. I'm not sure how it would affect a Black Pewter (which are made by combining the Pastel gene with the Black Pastel gene), since Black Pewters don't have that yellow cast that turns brown as they mature.

By itself, the Mystic gene looks similar, but less colorful, to the Mojave gene. Both Mystic and Mojave are part of the Blue Eyed Leucistic complex (BEL).

The Mystic line that I'm working with tends to be darker and have fewer blushings to it, which I think helps it combine nicely with the Cinnamon gene (I like the dark, bold look to the Cinnamon Mystic, plus the Mystic gene distorts the alien heads nicely in that combination).
