I have been breeding them since Jan of 2012. I started with 500 mixed nymphs, 50 adult females and 10 adult males. I did not feed out of the colony for 3 months. Now I could keep the local petco in feeders every month!

One thing I never mentioned, temps. You need to be between 85-95 for best breeding. I set at 91 so if it fluctuates a little in either direction its ok.
Could you post a picture of your breeder bin whenever it is convenient for you? I think that I'm at somewhere around 350-400 females and I'm just wondering how crowded you keep yours for optimal breeding. Everybody always says that they breed better when crowded but the degree of crowding would seem to be very open to interpretation.

One thing I will chime in on is to be careful with what dog food you use. Some contain something that will kill roaches.

I have used regular purina dog chow with great success since the beginning.

I clean one tub a week on Saturday night so when I have all the egg crates, dishes out I will snap a picture of the breeder bin before I shake out the wee ones.

I use the left over powder and food from Doggy Bag Brand dog food that I pick up for my rats at the local Tractor Supply. I have not had any issues with my colony. Also just keep the food, water dish and plastic lid I use to put carrots, potatoes or oranges right on the floor of the tub.

Anyone use Mazuri 6F leftover powder to feed them? I just realized I always throw out a fair amount of this at the end of the rat block bags...

I dont currently but I definitely will do this in that in the future Mrlang. I'm purchasing a ASF colony tomarrow. The roaches do better with lower protein and more veggies/fruits, I'm thinking Mazuri would be a lot better for them then dog food.
