    Here is an odd one...

... Or maybe this is normal?

So I got my very first snake back in the early 90s, a Cal King.

All these years together I have always called it a male. (Never sexed it)

Today I come home and find 5 slugs in "her" cage.

Never been around another snake, besides being in the same room.
First time she has ever done this.

Is this normal? Did she pick up on the smells and have a false pregnancy?

"She" did go off feed about 4 weeks ago and I was worried because she is older.

    Wow what a surprise.

A ~20 year old 'male' laying eggs?? That's freakin sweet!!! Maybe her motherly instincts are finally kicking in

Re: Here is an odd one...

There was another thread about something like this with BPs producing genetic cloned females in a same sex environment.

I'd say she either did that or like you said, she smelled something in the air and it triggered a breed reaction of some kind. Would've been cool if they weren't slugs though.

    Weird, wild, cool stuff.

    Here is an odd one...

What would make her lay slugs? Meer knew they would ever do that.

    Edit**
Yeah that's the only thing I can think of. Smelling the BPs and Carpets.

So crazy. We have been through a lot together and I never knew she was a female :p

Maybe she's getting "lonely," since I'm under the assumption you've never tried to breed it, as a female, anyway. I say you buy a real male for this next season.
