    Snake ID ?

    My sister sent me this photo.
    Can anyone ID it?

    With the shape of the head it looks venomous to me.

    Looks like it could be a pygmy rattle snake only it doesnt have a rattle as far as I can tell. It looks pretty small so maybe the rattle hasnt developed yet??? The baby rattlers I have seen up here dont have rattles at first... Im not expert though. But the pattern looks just like a rat snake... ??

    It looks like a Rat snake to me too.
    It definitely looks like a colubrid though...

    Yeah maybe the head just looks strange in the pic. That's what was throwing me off.

    It's a rat snake. If anyones pissed off a rat snake, or for future reference they flatten their heads as a defense mechanism to impersonate a rattler. They also vibrate their tails.
