Afghanistan find
My first good sized lizard sighting. I think it is an Agama.
Was sun bathing after what appeared to be a very large meal. Was not scared at all.
Just relocated him to a spot where no one would bother him.
Was about 10" including tail.

Re: Afghanistan find
Ahaha, he definitely looks fat and happy.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.

So neat! The most exciting lizards around here are fence lizards....

Looks pretty similiar to a small one I caught on the COP once. Then there was this big bastard I caught when we were rucking up a mountain, dunno what kind it was. I even managed to catch two scorpions bare-handed. That place had some neat things to catch... except the camel spiders. I hate them.

Great pic. We actually had a pair of them living under our back deck when I was in "the Stan" years ago. I also chased an Indian Cobra around for a bit before it dove down a hole. We also saw a few saw scaled vipers, but when we decided to try an catch one to keep in our Ready Room, we couldn't ever find another. Also, I got to see more Leopard Geckps than I could count in Kabul. They just walk down the streets there. Have fun with your herping over there.
Are you in Northern or Southern Afghanistan.

That's pretty neat. Thanks for sharing!
