Help please
My son just caught this can anyone tell me what kind of salamander this is and what to feed it.
1.1 pastels, 1.0 lesser, 0.1 het blurry, 0.1 spider, 1.1 norm. 0.1 dinker,
0.3 normal 1.1 pastels 0.1 spider 1.0 fire 1.0 lesser 1.0ringer 0.1RTB 1.0 Savannah monitor.

Looks like Ambystoma mabeei. Probably best to release it. Cute little fellow.

My son brought it in and wanted to keep it but I think your right about releasing it.

Help please
I have about 10+ salamanders living in a tank but never see them.
I feed them worms, roaches, slugs and isopods.

With wild caught animals you have to worry about parasites as well as whether or not they will feed etc. If it were my son I'd just tell him that outside is his home and let him release him. Plus amphibians aren't really a critter you can handle. But he is super cute, tell your son great find!

We turned the salamander loose. And some field herping. We found a ringneck and a copper head.
