Yeah she came in during the second big shipment they got. I went to go pickup some heat tape he owed me about a week after she was up on KS and he told me she was gone. Really wanted to see her in person, the other voltas he had though were still pretty amazing, their heads look like carpet pythons .

That is for sure an insane price. Like I said all the ones I have seen have been half that price for 800g less.

Here's a question for all of you that have 5000 gram females that are not "volta". How many eggs are you getting from them on an average year?

I've had two 4,700 gram girls (origin unknown) produce 14 egg clutches; but they were huge near 120 gram eggs (I'd rather have had 20 eggs 80 grams each but it doesn't seem to work that way with big girls). One of them I'm hoping will go for the 7th year in a row this year. The other I only got 3 clutches in 10 years so I sold her for I think it was $125.

I'm seeing about the same as Randy. My big het Pied girl usually throws 14 eggs but they are always in the 120 gram range. Her daughter is due to lay any day. I just got a 9 egg clutch from a 3000 gram Pastel het Pied from the same lineage......and she's a 2009.

My Pewter Pied girl is ovulating now at around 2500 grams and less than 30 months old. She is a big girl and it's one clutch I've been looking forward to since 2010. Hopefully my Enchi pos. het Pied is the one that got her.

Re: Looking for info on getting a big Sub Saharan

I picked up two females from Outback this past winter, and I paid $600 for them both. Both turned out to be holding sperm. After they were here for a couple of months, I put multi-gene co-dom males on both of them at the same time. They both laid within hours of each other and the eggs hatched from both at the same time as well. The results were all normals which leads me to believe they were already inseminated and the new boys just got them going.

The 3500g girl produced 10 out of 10 eggs, the 3800g girl produced 11 out of 11 and a slug. Some of them are quite a lot larger than some of their clutch mates. I'll be keeping a couple of pair. I also got captive hatched normals and dinkers from Africa, also form Outback that were born at the same time. I'll let you know in the fall how their weights compare just in time for the next group of Sub Saharan imports.

Interesting although I did have a female last year that I had for 2 years (never paired previously) and bred her with a double gene male and she gave me 8 good eggs all normals. Kinda puts a new swing on the joke "super normal"
