Hi folks, I debated for a while on posting this next thread. But I figured maybe it would reach a few folks it may help.
Tuesday we took in a common "red tail boa" that was dropped off at the front door of the CT Humane Society.
It was left in a 5 gallon bucket in 2 inches of sludge including a very dead mouse.
I am sure you can just imagine what that smell was like.
Sadly it seems that this boa had been living in this sludge for a long while as the bottom half of the snakes' body was rotting. Sadly the snake was still alive and greatly suffering.
We felt it to be the best for the snake to euthanise him.
Please everyone reading this. look at your snakes and be thankfull they are in your proper care.
I am sure they appreciate it more then you may know
Sincerely
Rusty

Thanks rding
We and our vet feel the animal is much better off now. It is always a very hard thing to do, but after seeing the snake, I believe everyone would have done the same.
I'm still not really sure why I shared this story. Except maybe it helps me to share it in some way. Maybe giving this little snake a story will help in some way. Maybe it's just me
Thank you
Rusty

ARGH
Rusty, you & your vet clearly made the correct decision. I did not even see the snake, thankfully, but from the description i am glad that you did what you did. Far better than lettin that poor little fella suffer.
Life is like a game of poker. You can play each hand to the best of your ability but you are still going to run into a bad beat from time to time. What matters is how you handle it. Do you go on tilt or can you maintain your composure & rebuild your stack?

I'm sure you did the right thing, Rusty. There's not much you can do when they come to you too late. At the very least, you saved him more pain.

I hate to say it but look at how some treat there children could we expect them to treat animals any better.
As Marla said people with no souls.
As always Rusty I know you did what was best for the Boa
As I have said before thank goodness for people like you.
