Reptile basics mite product
I've seen several threads on here concerning the treatment of mites, and it seems pretty evident that everyone endorse Provent A Mite as the best product. I was just going through Reptile Basics site looking at different products and see that they have a mite treatment product and wondered if anyone has tried it. It says it is EPA endorsed with no harmful chemicals. It does not contain the permathrin that is in most of the other products. Just curious to see what people think.

I don't recommend PAM, I have concerns over the health impact of it upon people. The product RB sells is natural chemistry mite spray. It works fine. I still personally advocate a old fashioned method of DE to isolate animals and soaks as well but it makes a good addition.

i had a bad case of mites with my last pick up. i tried the reptile basics reptile releif. yes it worked good but i had a member on another site inform me about using nix. I tried it and it worked amazing. the reptile releif i had the mites come back twice and i was starting to get stressed. i got a 2 oz bottle of nix lice shampoo and mixed it in a gallon of distilled water. i sprayed the snake and the encloser down and have not seen another one since.

You do know NIX is a Permethrin product? It should never ever be used on snakes permethrin is a chemical that has severe impact on reptiles. This is the same as PAM and it is very ridged precautions. nIX has killed a number of snakes in the past it needs to be used with extreme caution.

Point me in the direction of a thread about nix killing mites please. As far as I'm concerned, in my one small battle with mites NIX is the saviour of my collection. Many many big breeders use it on their vast collections that make yours and mine look like child's play. If those people trust there $100,000 collections to it then so will I. Yes there needs to be some caution when using it as with all things, but it works. No doubt about it.
