My current visual heat light cage setup

So let me start by saying this, the current setup is only temporary until I get my herpstat 4 and some heat tape. I will be building a custom enclosure when they arrive and I have the funds.

Hot on left, uvb 5.0 in middle, cool side on right:

    Basking spot:

    Ambient temperature and humidity:

    Cool side:

    Leslie:

Before you ask, uvb is on a 12 hour timer, lamps on dimmers, no thermostat yet... Waiting on my herpstat 4. I will be adding a misting device to his new cage when its finished.

In the future ditch the 5.0 bulb, a 2.0 bulb would be a much better choice.

This is the bulb I use, equal to a 2.0 but some higher spectrum I believe.

The red and black are night lights, so the only light is the 12 hours of uvbs. I know they don't need these but since I added it, he has been more active and seems to like it. (Doesn't really go under it but his behaviour has improved)

Looks good to me, I would, however, try to buy another gauge for ambient temp/humidity. The one you have in your cage is junk.

Yah I plan on it, the Walmart one that has a probe also (for the cool side). Then use the temp gun just to triple check all the temps.

Why do you use UVB at all? Just curious. I am under the impression that ball pythons don't need them. Am I mistaken?

They don't neeeeed them, but I like to spoil my pets. I know people dislike bright lights but Its my choice and I feel like it helps.
