its been covered before...still a question or two
Ok...so I am in the process of switching all mine to pre-killed or F/T'd
I just tried feeding my 700g lesser a f/t'd he shied away about as quickly as possible...I had thawed it in hot but far from boiling water in a zip loc bag, and then blasted it with a hot air gun set at 120 degrees F....
how long do ya leave em in for before taking the f/t away? can they be refrozen?
do some ppl's snakes not care if they are heated up to body temp?

You can leave it in the snakes cage overnight, but not much longer. You can refreeze a rodent once maybe twice, but if you plan on refreezing I wouldn't leave it sitting in the cat for very long before you do refreeze it.
Mine all take rodents much easier/faster if the rodent is about 100 degrees F.

is there any trick to measuring the f/t to that temp? I blasted mine a few good minutes with a heat gun set at 120 F

I set up a cooler with some flexwatt that is controlled by a thermostat to keep the inside of the cooler at 100 degrees. (very similar to an incubator) I put the frozen rodents in the fridge the night before to start the defrosting process, then I place them into the cooler 2 hours before I plan on feeding. I check them with a temp gun before feeding.

I love this idea for feeding large amounts of F/t, thank you!
