Why? That's like saying any fish should be kept in pairs. Unless you want to breed what is the benefit of that besides the male constantly pestering the female which isn't a benefit for her.

But I agree, osacrs can be kept as individuals. I've seen it done, and they are fine with it. Just let them bite you once in awhile so they know you love them.
Doh - I didn't even look at the date since the post was near the top of this section. I guess the fish section here don't get much activity. Going to have to change that

Well since it's been brought back up hubby says he agrees Oscar over Arowana. He has 2 Oscars with 4 Silver Dollars. Definitely have personality.

I've owned both and the Oscar is far more forgiving when it comes to real estate. My Arowana out grew my 75 gallon aquarium and finding a home was extremely difficult.
On the positive side, if you can't find a home for your fish, get a little butter and some Old Bay and a two foot Arowana can easily feed a family of four.
