Regulate Heating?
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know a good way to regulate the heat in the tank without having to turn the lamp on and off?
Any tricks for humidity as well?
Thank you

A thermostat will do the trick (and they are 100% necessary for under tank heating pads) Don't waste your money on the thermostats sold at pet stores, as they are overpriced junk.
Here are 3 good thermostats:
Budget: http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR.../dp/B000NZZG3S
Mid-Range: http://www.reptilebasics.com/ranco-etc-111000-pre-wired
Best: http://spyderrobotics.com/home/products.html
Personally for a single heat source I would get a herpstat intro + (from the 3rd link)
Check out these 2 threads, they might anser a bunch of questions that you have (even if you don't know that you have them yet)

A pic or detailed description of you're setup could help.
If your just using lamps a rheostat will help. If you have an uth as well it needs to be on a thermostat.
If you have a screen top cage. Covering 3/4 of th screen with a damp towel will help humidity and using a substrate that holds moisture can also help. Cypress mulch or coconut shaving work well but the coconut can be alittle dirty, imo.

Hi,
I have been good at the humidity.
I do have a screen top cage and cover 3/4ths of it with a damn handkerchief.
I have a humidity gauge.
I also have his water bowl and a tall vase of water in there as well.
So yeah the humidity I'm okay with, was just curious.
When it comes to heat I have both a inferred and white lamp.
I have temperature gauges, one for his basking area and one for his cooler side.
I hope this description helped,
~ Lady

What type of gauges do you have? The round stick on type?

The tall vase worries me. If your snake crawls on it and makes it fall it will flood your cage and could potentially crack or break the glass of your cage.

I also have the picture in my head of your snake not being able to get out of it in the event it crawled inside it. This may not be a issue but not seeing it my imagination is running seal with it.
You can add moss to the hides and mist it during regular times and keep it damp during a shed. This is what I do and have perfect sheds every time.

Oh I doubt he will.
It's not big enough and it's tall, but not taller than him.
So all he could even to is stick his head in and then come back out.
However, I will keep not of that.
How often should I spray? (I was wondering about that)

Those can be pretty inaccurate, and usually just measure the temperature of the glass they are stuck to.
I would suggest that you pick up one of these from Walmart. They cost $12 and you only need a single unit for the average cage.
This thermometer/hygrometer has a probe for the hot side of the cage, and a second temperature sensor/humidity sensor behind its screen. To use it, simply place the probe on the hot side, and the unit on the cool side.
