From the Northeast…whats the best place to get a Columbian Red Tail Boa (BCI)??

Information on breeders would be really helpful.

I plan on attending the White Plains NY Reptile Expo in February and the one in L.I. in March if anyone thinks thats a good place to pic one up.

    Thanks!!

I got a bp from Bob Futo, and he does redtails too. He's back there somewhere. I believe he goes to the expose and shows.

Expos! As long as you use common sense, the seller is someone you feel comfortable talking with, the animals appear healthy and well fed, then buying at an expo can be very rewarding.

Re: From the Northeast…whats the best place to get a Columbian Red Tail Boa (BCI)??

Depending on the type of boa you want. There are tons of vendors at both the White Plains and LI show. The White Plains show definitely has more selection just because its a bigger show.

I got both my Hog Island BCI and Suriname BCC from Vin Russo he deals with mainly locality specific stuff which is my main interest in boas. He also has some BCI morphs which are pretty sweet as well.

If you really want a red tail I suggest you look into BCCs their tails maintain more red as they age, though they do have more specific husbandry requirements(temps and humidity being the most specific). They also tend to grow slower but attain a larger adult size.
As with everything else, make sure you do your research before acquiring one of these beautiful animals.

Thanks for everyone's input... Was interested in Columbian Red Tail BCI due to temperament and size. It's also my understanding that they are easier to care for.

I do intend on getting a PVC enclosure and heat panels (very similar to my BP set-ups) prior to picking up.

Hopefully I'll have it set up prior to the show in February.

    Thanks!!

I've dealt with Jimmi snakes two times before, Internet purchases. All his stuff was healthy and he was extremely helpful and professional. He usually a bunch of different morphs and is always at the white plains show.

You can't go wrong with Vain Russo or Jimmi for boa. I have bought a few boas from them and so far I have no problem at all.

I prefer dealing with Vin Russo. Quality is the norm for him.

Re: From the Northeast…whats the best place to get a Columbian Red Tail Boa (BCI)??

I've had nothing but positive experiences with tim from special k reptiles. He sets up at white plains expo. If he has it listed on kingsnake or his web site you can put a deposit on it and he will make sure to bring it to the show. He always has a nice selection of quality boas an balls. I've gotten one each from him and I wouldn't hesitate to get more. And if you don't buy from him he's always willing to just offer advice and even just look at your new addition. Hes really a great guy to deal with.
