QT problem

So I have a quarantine problem.

I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with my mother and space is limited.

I am going to be picking up 5 or 6 snakes up soon and obviously will need to quarantine. I am also going to be pick up a 7 slot rack so obviously this will become my QT rack for a few months.

Problem is limited space in the apartment. Its my mothers apartment so what she says goes. I asked her if I can try to put the QT rack in the living room for a bit and she said no there is simply no room. Which I agree there isnt lol.

There is no where else in the apartment I can put it. Except for where it is supposed to go after the snakes are done in QT. I dont have a friend or relative I can keep the rack at either.

So my question is if its ok to keep the rack where I intended to put it after they were done QT which is right beside my existing rack. I am very good with sanitation. Always use hand sanitizer after handling each snake, sanitizing tools etc etc .... I really dont have a choice... There is no where else to put it.

Will this be ok?

I would not be comfortable with that. That's why I have a boa on my kitchen table, lol. No where else to put her far enough away from everybody else. Imo, right next to your existing stock isn't qt of any sort.

If you can't QT now, how did you QT before?

Like I told you before, with 5-6 new snakes coming in at once, I wouldn't risk your resident snakes.
Keeping the racks side by side defeats the purpose of QT.....

I would negotiate with your mother to keep them in the common room or a hallway closet. It's only temporary after all.....
It's not like they're going to be there forever...

Will it be ok?
Maybe. Maybe not.
Ultimately it's your decision whether or not you want to risk your current snakes.
Personally, I wouldn't do that. Especially with the number of new additions coming in....
If I didn't have a QT area, I just wouldn't get any new snakes until I could find an area for it....

Like Nikki asked, how were you previously quarantining?

Me personally, I feel you have a responsibility to your current collection to keep them safe. That means not exposing them to anything new snakes could carry to the point that if I simply could not qt in a separate room I wouldn't get anymore snakes until I could. It's just the responsible thing to do.
Qt in the same room, let alone right next to each other is pointless and dangerous. Far too much is airborne.
