    Brumation and Breeding

This will be my first time Breeding my Kingsnakes. It will also be my first time doing the Brumation process in my 20+ years of having Kings.

What's the best way to go about this? Is there anything that needs to be done to the cage before hand? A special hide, deeper substrate etc. ?

Does anyone here breed their kings without brumating?

Any info, tips, links you can pass along would be great.

    Thanks!!

    Re: Brumation and Breeding

I personally don't brumate my kings, I find it almost a waste of time and it can be pretty risky. I find they'll mate regardless and have successful clutches. Sorry I don't have too much info on brumation, I just don't use it

Well I'm fine with hearing that.

Do you just start pairing anytime? Do you cool them at all?

    Any info would be great

    Thanks!!

    Bump.
When do you pair these guys? Everything I keep finding online talks about brumating.

    Re: Brumation and Breeding

Hi, sorry it took so long to reply.

I pair anytime of year I don't brumate. Some say the sperm is more "potent" and the female's follicles are better after brumation, but I've seen lots of success without brumation. I think it's all just about preference

    Ok cool.
I'll try introducing them soon and see what happens.

    Thanks!
