Very subtle differences. Google them and look at as many pictures as possible. A good way to see how they combo is to look at the pastel versions of each.

    Go here: http://www.worldofballpythons.com/wizard/

Look up pastel x calico and pastel x sugar

Look at how they vary, and look at what traits are more consistent between the 2, and make up your mind for yourself . My vote is that they're different. Others will disagree. Sorry I can't give you a straight answer.

Read what Mike Wilbanks has to say about Calico VS Sugar. I've always thought the Sugar combos were nicer than Calicos.....Mike's article says the same.

Has anybody had any luck yet with this project? Making plans for next season and would really like to see some pics if they exist.

Calico pied could be awesome! Hopefully someone is getting close. I'd love to start towards that.

As far as calico vs. sugar, they are the same morph. Doesn't anybody besides me get tired of this? There is sooooooooo much variability in morphs.

I work with the trick morph. There is a HUGE variability in the look of tricks. Just like there is a HUGE variability in the look of calicos. There's a huge variability in the look of Piebalds, lessers, sparks, tricks, pastels, spiders, black pastels, cinnamons, normals, etc.... Calico = Sugar, Sugar = Calico... Butter = Lesser,
Lots of BPs, and still not enough!

This is addictive...what did I get myself into?...

ClarckT, I'm still a rookie in genetic knowledge but as long as you can visually see consistent differences then why be oppose to having different names? Especially once you start gene stacking and realize that your 4 gene animal looks nothing like the ones that every one else has. As a professional breeder the subtle differences can mean huge differences in the long run. That's why I personally don't mind if a few different lines of the same morph having different names. I checked out your FB and you have some pretty cool animals. I'm a fan of that pastel trick.

Still no luck. I've tried to contact the only two people to seem to be working on this project with no response. I emailed Ralph Davis and he doesn't believe they exist yet. I guess I will have to try

    Re: Calico Pied

    Hiya guys,
sorry I haven't been here in ages, but I thought I'd better share a few pictures with you.

A few days ago I had a clutch hatch out, that I have been waiting for... almost since day one. A bit more than 2 years ago I came across the nicest Flora & Fauna Line Calico I had ever seen. I had to buy her on the spot. The Plan from that day onward was to make Yellow Belly Calicos. And so it went.
    The beeding was:

My F&F Calico X Pumpkin Pied! I had 6 Eggs, one died during the last weeks of incubation, the remaining 5.... went on to do great things.

A few days ago I go:

2 Yellow Belly Calico Het. Pied
    2 Calico Het. Pied
And 1 Yellow Belly Het. Pied

I'll show you the 2 2 Yellow Belly Calico Het. Pied frist... since they are the most impressive.
